Belief is Delusion
Belief is based on your feelings and ignorance, not on any factual evidence. If you had factual evidence for what you believe, you would not have to believe it - you would know it and we could all share in that knowledge.
I can see how belief would be a delusion if that belief was in fact false. However - how could belief be a delusion if one believed in something that was in fact true? In that case, the word 'delusion' does not apply. Based on your argument, I think it would be more accurate to say that your belief (or whatever you want to call it) is that "Belief does not equal knowledge".
ReplyDelete...And if you don't believe me, you're delusional! Wait - You'd be delusional if you did believe me based on your title... Wait - I think I'm getting delusional now, and it has nothing to do with belief!
Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think "Belief does not equal knowledge" is a more accurate representation of your opinion.
That reminds me of a Dirry Harry line that I'll modify for this blog - "Beliefs are like A-holes, everybody has one..."
